Date: Jul 27
Place: NorQuest College - Edmonton Campus
The NorQuest Robotics Camp is a 5-day intensive summer program for students aged 13-15. It aims to equip participants with foundational skills in 3D printing, programming, and robotics. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, culminating in the creation of a personalized robotic device that students take home.
Participants will construct their own Pedro 2.0 Robot Arm during the camp, gaining hands-on experience in 3D printing, programming, and robotics while exploring the transformative impact of these technologies on our world.
The camp will be led by Riley Dawson (MBA/MEng), a research software engineer based in Edmonton. Riley has spent nearly a decade working with the University of Alberta’s ACE and BLINC Labs on the Gaze and Movement Assessment software platform. His work helps researchers use motion capture and eye-tracking technology to advance robotic prosthetics and movement science.
NorQuest, through its Indigenous House of Learning, is a proud network member of Actua. Actua is a leading Canadian science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) youth outreach organization. Each year, the Actua network engages over 500,000 youth in 600 communities across Canada in transformative STEM learning experiences that build critical skills and confidence.
