Date: Aug 11
- Aug 15
Place: NorQuest College - Edmonton Campus
The NorQuest Robotics Camp is a 5-day summer program designed for students interested in technology and innovation. In partnership with Actua, the camp introduces foundational skills in 3D printing, programming, and robotics through hands-on, engaging activities.
Throughout the week, participants will design, build, and program their own Pedro 2.0 Robot Arm—a personalized robotic device they can take home. The camp explores how emerging technologies are shaping our world, making learning both practical and inspiring.
The camp will be led by Riley Dawson (MBA/MEng), a research software engineer based in Edmonton. Riley has spent nearly a decade working with the University of Alberta’s ACE and BLINC Labs on the Gaze and Movement Assessment software platform. His work helps researchers use motion capture and eye-tracking technology to advance robotic prosthetics and movement science.
Joining Riley is Darrion Letendre, a nehiyaw-Metis man from Kelly Lake and Horse Lake First Nations in Treaty No. 8 Territory. He is the Land Based Learning Specialist at NorQuest College, where he guides the STEMQuest program; a transformative journey that connects students from K-12 with First Nation and Metis cultural teachings while bridging the gap between Indigenous and Western STEM. STEMQuest strives to balance unique perspectives, ensuring all learners can walk in two worlds while utilizing multiple perspectives to better the world for all
Actua is a leading Canadian science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) youth outreach organization.
